Walking Around Town!

She sure like to talk. To brag. Brag about being a killer…? Now that wasn’t something he expected to hear someone say out loud on a city street. Junior wiped a hand down his face, ending with a rub to his stubbled chin. “I know what it feels like to be followed, so I don’t know how much luck you’d have there.” He’d been told by his family time and again that he was reckless but he looked like a goddamn saint in comparison to her.

As for her “talents”, well, he knew his share of women who told him the same thing and they were hardly anything new. Still, he was becoming more and more interested in her rather than more and more interested in getting out while he still could. “But hey, psycho, serial murderer, whatever, just keep that shit to yourself.” Brash, uncouth, hell he didn’t care as long as he didn’t get too far on anyone’s bad side.

"For your information I’m going somewh-" A spark of fire suddenly caught his eye and it took a second for him to realize that it came from her fingers. "What the fuck was that?" he asked, pointing his own sharp finger at her while he looked her over more intently.

Maybe he still had time to walk away…

Charlotte crossed her arms over her chest and rolled her eyes at him when he finished talking to her. “I’m really lucky and really crafty. I bet I could follow you without you noticing me at all. I can appear and disappear like a magic trick”, she told him before a smirk graced her lips.  She could in fact do magic and him not knowing that yet pleased her.

She couldn’t help people giggle at his words. She’d been called those things for most of her life so hearing the words psycho, and serial murderer come out of his mouth didn’t bother her. In fact it amused her to no end. “But why should I? I like seeing people’s reactions when I say things like that to them. It amuses me and I can make them forget everything we said to each other. Sounds crazy but in time you will see what I mean and you will believe”, she told the man before a smirk graced her lips.

After blowing out a smoke ring, Charlotte let out a giggle. His reaction was priceless. She loved doing magic in front of people and seeing their reactions. Some thought it was cool, some were shocked and some people got down right scared.

Charlotte took a long, slow drag of her cigarette before answering him. “That was magic, my good man. In fact it’s a little thing us witches like to call pyrokinesis”, she told him before snapping her fingers once again to make a flame appear. “I’ve been doing it since before I could walk and talk. It’s pretty simple but I’ve always had more power than any other witch I’ve ever come across.” She took another drag of her cigarette, “But I’m not just a witch. I’m also part demon, I can shapeshift and I can never die. I could show you my demon eyes or shift into a black cat if you want”, she said before once again taking a long drag of her cigarette as she waited for him to say something to her.

Now she was rattling off superpowers as if she was talking to a shrink and the way she was so casual about it made him think she sure as hell needed one. Wasn’t that the cliche? People with inhuman abilities keeping to themselves and being known as all-around nerds? He might as well have held up a microphone to her mouth so she could say it to everyone all at once.

On one hand he was almost tempted to take her to the nearest hospital and let them deal with it. On the other hand he couldn’t afford a visit to his plastic surgeon again so soon and he was in no hurry to feel what it was like to get severely burned twice. “Well you can wiggle your pyro fingers at someone else but I’m going to guess you’re not going to give me that luxury,” Junior said in a plainly annoyed voice, raising his shoulders and sticking his hands deep in his coat pockets, balling them up into loose fists.

But if he was going to be trailed by this…whatever…she should at least be able to keep up his pace. “Shift into a goddamn parakeet for all I care,” he barked as he began to walk away, his head still turned to face her, “but if you’re going to be my lovely escort for the rest of the day just don’t lag behind. The last thing I need is a pre-teen looking stalker.”

Five have visit Madam Gothel’s Souvenir and Palm Reading Shoppe

"A witch you say? Well then I certainly don’t want to stir up any trouble around here.” He ended as soon as a smirk was starting to form. So it really was a hocus-pocus tourist trap, but with a cute fairy-like girl to run things it was easy to imagine someone being lured into believing that a particular scented candle could ward off evil spirits.

Hell, he wasn’t even counting himself as an exception to that.

Junior looked at her closer, trying to get a peek at her eyes behind the curl of her lashes. Her blunt request made him raise a brow; he didn’t peg her as the type to be so outgoing but he was more than pleasantly surprised. He cocked his head as he gave a shrug. “That depends. You’re not going to put some sort of spell on me, are you?” he asked, his mouth widened into a full grin. He figured she rarely saw a lot of people throughout the day and all of her spunk was being put onto him.

Not that he minded in the least.

"Well she’s not around anymore. She left —" what used to be said with sadness held no emotion now. It was just a fact and Claire, dare she say it, happy about it. With Gothel gone she had more freedom than she could handle — that’s a lie she could handle it just fine.

The corner of her green eyes cringled and she shook her head. “Psh, I’m not a witch. I only like know stuff and how to set up herbs for spells and stuff but I don’t practice it,” she looked around and leaned closer to whisper, “its a little scary but if I were to tell other people that they wouldn’t wanna buy from me.”

She straighten then, lifting herself up on the counter to sit cross-legged. “So can I touch it? I’ll be gentle.”

He didn’t bother asking about the girl’s mother, mostly because he felt no reason too. Empathy was a word that lay dust-covered in his vocabulary and his own personal experience with parents left much to be desired. Junior only saw them as micro-managers who kept trying to weasel their way into getting him to turn his life around. And they attempted everything their money could have provided, from rehabs to counselors (who always turned out to be women and whose sessions never amounted to much talking). So any sort of parenting drama he made sure to stay away from.

But he forgot about it as soon as she did as the girl leaned in close to whisper. Junior gave a nod as if to say he fully understood where she was coming from. “You always gotta look out for those sensitive types. People are far too easy to offend the-“

He stopped short, now eye-level with the girl’s shoulders. “These days,” he finished with a clearing of his throat. She was never going to drop the idea and so he bowed his head, trying not to let out a laugh. “Alright, go ahead.” A few seconds later he realized he didn’t know one thing.

"So what’s your name, anyway?"

He had only taken a couple more steps when he realized that the girl was still talking. Hell. It wasn’t as if he had anywhere to be or really wanted to be but that was beside the point. Apparently looking like you were keeping to yourself wasn’t enough these days.

Popping the piece of gum into his mouth he turned back around to face the girl, giving it a good crack between his teeth. Junior knew women to be indecisive but her question was plain amusing. “Well maybe next time you should keep your curiosity on a shorter leash.” A hard smirk formed on his face; of course he wasn’t going to give her a straight answer. “I’m heading somewhere where I obviously don’t want anyone following me.”

Charlotte crossed her arms as she waited for the man to answer her question. A playful smirk formed on her lips as he cracked his gum between his teeth. She knew things were going to get interesting, she could sense it, she could smell it in the air and was sure of it by what he said to her. “Looks like we have a smart-ass here”, the main voice in her head told her. Charlotte smirked at the man, “No, thanks. I like having my curiosity on a long leash. It keeps my life interesting”, she told him before flashing him another smirk. As the man began to talk again, Charlotte could feel her evil side taking control but she wouldn’t hurt him in any way. In fact her evil side was taking a liking to him. It found him interesting and entertaining.

Another smirked form on her lips before she began to speak, “Is that so? I bet I could follow you and you wouldn’t even know I was in your presence”, she said to him. “Don’t doubt me either because trust me I have my ways, I have my talents”, she told him before another smirk graced her lips. If only he knew she wasn’t human and could easily follow him without him even noticing he was being followed. “For all you know I could be a killer. I could even be something you only thought was true in books and movies.” Both of these things were true, only she wasn’t proud of the first one. She was taught to only hurt and kill people who deserved it but her evil side enjoyed hurting and killing all kinds of people and she couldn’t stop it from having its fun. Her evil side was apart of her and always would be. “I bet you’re not even going anywhere important”, she said as she took out a cigarette. She then placed the cigarette between her lips and was about to fish out her lighter when she decided to shock him. She snapped her fingers together and a flame appeared, which she used to light her cigarette. She the shook her hand and the flame disappeared. Charlotte took a long drag from her cigarette before speaking, “Surprise”, she said before smirking at the man in front of her.
